Atlantic City or Vegas – Which is Better?

Las Vegas and Atlantic City

People planning on doing some gambling while on vacation in the States may be torn between visiting Las Vegas or Atlantic City – both gambling meccas in their own way, with some similarities and some big differences.

Of course, when you can play casino games wherever you are online today at sites like bet365, there is no actual need to visit a land-based casino. The casino gaming sites have the full range of games that you’d find at a casino in Vegas or Atlantic City, and you can even play many of the games for free – in fun mode – when you don’t want to risk real cash on them.

All that aside, there’s still a big appeal in playing casino in the traditional surroundings; there’s something exciting about going to land-based casinos. So, if you’re planning a trip – which coast should you head to for the best gambling fun?

Also known as Sin City, Vegas is the larger destination by far, and you’ll have many more hotels to choose from. So if you’re looking to save on accommodation prices, Vegas is a good bet compared with Atlantic City.

For year-round good weather, Vegas is also a safe choice. Although the temperatures soar to ridiculous temperatures in the summer, you can escape to the air-con whenever you want to. In the winter, the warmth of Vegas may appeal more than the possible snow that you’ll get in Atlantic City, with some chill winter breezes coming off the ocean. Atlantic City is definitely more of a spring and summer destination.

If you go to Vegas, you don’t just get gambling, you also get the biggest and brightest lights you can imagine. The whole character of Vegas is showy, and the Strip personifies that. Atlantic City, in comparison, has a much more relaxed, easy-going feel and that might appeal to your temperament more.

Atlantic City has its own features that draw visitors in. For a start ‘America’s playground’ is much smaller in scale but if you like mega hotels, you’ll still find some there – the Borgata and Caesars Atlantic City to name but two.

One thing that AC has over Vegas is the fresh air blowing in from the ocean. A great place to take a break from the gaming tables is the beach, where you can clear your head from the buzz of the casino while watching the waves. There’s also a party atmosphere along the boardwalk which has been termed ‘Mardi Gras 24/7’, so that’s another appealing attribute.

Of course, where you decide to take your gaming vacation comes down to personal choice – and the ease with which you can travel to either destination. In either location, you’re bound to have a blast!
