There are many options for when it comes to taking a transfer form your airport to your hotel or your home during your vacations. Today we are going to take a look at which kind of airport transfer will suit you best depending on what kind of traveler you are, how much time you have and how much you are prepared to spend on your transfer. Let’s take a look then at which are available and which is the best choice for you.
Pre-Arranged
The first thing that we should mention is that if you are staying in a hotel when you go away, you should speak with them before you fly as many of them offer free transfers direct to the hotel.
Private Transfers
By far the easiest method of airport transfer is to hire yourself a private, chauffeur driven service to collect you from the airport when you land, and take you to any location of your choosing. There are cheaper options around than this but the price of a private service is not astronomical and you will fin them extremely comfortable with friendly drivers and a punctual service.
Local Transport
If you feel comfortable with where you are going and the language spoken then you could opt for the lowest budget option and take public transport. There are bus and train links from almost every airport in the World and these often a fraction of the cost of any other type of transfer. You must be confident when taking public transport and not only know where to get on and when to pay but more importantly, when to get off.
Local Taxis
Taxis are a good option if you haven’t planned too well ahead for your airpot transfer although depending on where you go they could prove to be one of the most expensive options. If you are going to opt to take a local taxi then you should make sure that you are using a service which is provided by the airport, or at least a taxi service with a center inside the airport. Taxi scams are notorious around the World and if you simply jump in a cab then you could be running the risk of exorbitant costs or worse still, being taken to a destination which was not what you asked for.
Friends and Family
If you are visiting friends or family abroad or upon your arrival home, don’t be frightened to ask your loved ones to help you out and give you a ride home, especially if you are arriving in the middle of the night. In fact, if your friends and family are anything like mine, they will probably be annoyed that you have paid money when they could have helped you out. When friends say the ‘anything you need’ line, they usually mean it and you should call on them when you need help.
